Multi car sensor and actuator tester

The HMP1 is the most complete tool for mechanics testing, reading and/or emulating almost all car sensors.
It is so complete that it becomes the essential tool for servicing internal combustion vehicles.

Among its functions, we can highlight its ability to read and generate CKP & double CMP pulses simultaneously and the complete test of motorized throttle bodies and many more functions.

There are 3 types of possible actions for each sensor.
[T] Test. It means that the HMP1 can check the operation with the sensor/actuator outside the car (or disconnected)
[R] Reading. It means that you can read the operation without disconnecting it from the car and read/monitor its operation that way.
[E] Emulate. It means that the HMP will act as if it were the sensor so that the injection “believes” that the sensor is in place and working.

Crankshaft wheel sensor reader

Electronic injection cars have at least one crankshaft position sensor. The sensor is called CKP.
It is magnetically coupled to a gear that is missing (or left over) some teeth. This gear is called a phonic wheel.
The most modern cars have one sensor on camshaft (also called phase or CMP) or two sensors when have 2 camshafts.
The sensors must have a perfect sync. On fail, the car can refuse start.
The HMP1 can read 3 pulses simultaneously and make a sync map of both camshafts.

The CKP connection is mandatory, the CMPi only is required when the car have 2 or 3 sensors, and the CMPE only is required when the car have 3 sensors.

When the engine turns, the HMP read the pulses and make the internal Map.
As the reader must know the signal of CMP is repeated every 720 degrees of Crankshaft, is say 2 complete turns of both CKP.
Also note that the CMP sensors is in phase with the CKP, on this way the injection know exactly where is each part of engine in all moment.

image

The point Ai is the amount of teeth of CKP counted from missing teeth until first switch of intake CamShaft ( CMPi ).
The point Bi is the amount of teeth of second change. Ae and Be are first and second change of exhaust CamShaft ( CMPe ).
A CamShaft can have several switch points ( A, B, C etc ), the HMP can store up to 20 switch points of each Camshaft but allways on even quantity.
All points is called MAP and if you want use this read to generate the pulses on the future is required watch and store all points of map.
To test the timing belt assembly probably only require the Ai and Ae points.

Other example can be of the following image. There you can see better how the teeth are counted for the point A.
image

Every car have their self map of phase and the HMP1 is capable to read it with the engine turning, and store up to 4 maps in their internal memory for later pulse generation.
This read have 4 uses:
1)Test how work the CKP and both CMP sensors.
2)Check the timing belt mounting
3)Check differents cars with same engine
4)Store the read on the internal memory for use in the generator.

On screen appear the following information:
image
A) The Ai point is 20
B) The Ae point is 40
C) The teeth quantity
D) The missing teeth
E) Cut by turns

Pressing the + and - keys with a short touch will switch the point of map showed on intake MAP (Ai, Bi, Ci, Di etc).
A long touch will show the exhaust map ( Ae, Be, Ce, De, etc)
When press the OK button the reading will be stored into internal memory. So is necessary that the engine is turning when press OK.
Can choose one from 4 available places ( 1~4 ) but 0 mean no store ( only RAM )
The report will show the entire CMP map readed by device that you can read with + and - keys.
